Job Vacancy: data engineer for living environment
About the position
As a data engineer at M+P, you will contribute to a better living environment in the Netherlands and Europe. You will be part of a team that conducts research and provides advice on noise, vibrations, and air quality related to roads, railways, airports, construction, and industrial activities in and outside cities.
As a data engineer, you will be pioneering in your work. You will analyze and model data, as well as gather this data, often using our self-developed measurement systems. You are naturally curious and enjoy tinkering with software, and you also have some knowledge of hardware and/or (IoT) sensors, or you are eager to learn. With your skills in data science, programming, and artificial intelligence, you will transform data into new, actionable insights and practical results for our clients and ourselves. For example, you may work on further developing the 'noise radar', the software for the national railway noise model, managing vibrations on the railway, or noise-adaptive construction for aviation.
You will work in an enthusiastic team of over 30 specialists for governmental bodies and businesses. We foster an open and relaxed atmosphere with a lot of freedom and without a complicated management structure. This allows plenty of room for your creativity and initiatives. You will find a good work-life balance with us.
As a data engineer, you are not just a small cog in the machine. You will actively participate in the entire consulting process:
- Analysis and visualization of data
- Model calculations and simulations
- Measurement and development of measurement systems
- Contact with clients, the design team, or stakeholders
- Reporting and presenting results
We also help you develop your commercial and communication skills, allowing you to quickly grow into the role of Environmental Consultant.
What are we looking for?
- You have a background at HBO or academic level in data science, engineering, or computer science.
- You have an affinity for noise, vibrations, air quality, and/or health and want to contribute to improving the living environment.
- You are skilled with data and computers and have experience with scripting or programming (e.g., Python), or you are eager to learn.
- You are communicative and enjoy presenting yourself and your work to people from very diverse backgrounds.
We welcome applications from anyone with the necessary skills, regardless of background, age, or gender, whether you are just starting your career or have several years of experience.
