"Making the impossible possible."

In construction and development projects with challenging boundary conditions, I truly feel at my best. It is precisely in these situations that creativity is required—from both myself and my colleagues—where our expertise contributes to the realization of plans in which living and environmental quality truly matter. I believe that plans are rarely impossible; it is the constraints that make them seem so. The real challenge lies in aligning and reconciling constraints with design. This can only be achieved by collaborating closely and thinking together throughout a project.

In addition to guiding numerous tenders and advising on construction and spatial development plans, I support the municipality of Zaanstad as a sound architect in the development of the Hembrug site. I am also involved in the adaptation of the Environment and Planning Act (Omgevingswet), particularly regarding noise aspects, and I work on noise-adaptive building strategies in areas affected by aircraft noise.

I am an editor of the journal Geluid. I have long been involved with the Stichting Kennisoverdracht Bouwfysica—most recently as chairman—and I currently serve as a board member of PAO Techniek en Management and as a member of the Supervisory Board of Koninklijke NLingenieurs.

In my free time, I enjoy running, going to the gym, walking, listening to music, gardening, and working on projects at home.
